The cover of FOLIO Volume 02 features Maria Callas (2022) by Thai artist Virut Panchabuse. Created from thousands of meticulously assembled magazine fragments, the portrait appears cinematic from afar before dissolving into an intricate constellation of paper, colour and texture at close range. The work was commissioned by ArtBay Gallery owner Pauline Bianchi and took eight months to complete. Virut is represented exclusively in New Zealand by ArtBay Gallery in Queenstown.
The cover of Volume 01 features Finding Light by New Zealand artist Greer Clayton. Through layered colour, subtle tonal shifts and an evocative interplay of shadow and light, Clayton creates abstract landscapes that capture the atmosphere and emotional pull of the natural world. Her contemplative work explores memory, longing and our sense of connection to place. Greer has been represented by Auckland’s Parnell Gallery since 2013.
