A Legacy of Design

Born in New Zealand and now residing in Sydney, Cameron Foggo has an unpretentious spirit that resonates deeply in every piece he creates.

Cameron Foggo, a designer of exquisite high-end furniture, has established himself as a notable figure in the world of design, seamlessly blending his New Zealand roots with his Australian experiences. Renowned for his approachable yet sophisticated style, Cameron’s work spans furniture, interior design, and architectural collaborations, all deeply influenced by his travels and the human experience.

Cameron’s journey commenced in New Zealand, where he was immersed in his family’s interior design and furniture business from a tender age. Working alongside his father acted as an invaluable apprenticeship, instilling in him a foundational understanding of design’s intricacies. This early exposure shaped his enduring philosophy, which champions the harmonious union of aesthetics and comfort. “I learned early on that a piece may be visually appealing, but if it lacks comfort, it simply doesn’t count,” he reflects—a guiding principle that continues to inform his creative process.

The Furrow sofa treads the line between classical and modern, artfully combining the Chesterfield-inspired tufted motif with a sleek, contemporary form, managing to be whimsical and sophisticated at the same time. Also showing the Alchemy Marble Coffee Table (above). All designed for Natadora.

Travel has always been a cornerstone of Cameron’s design narrative. His regular visits to European fairs have allowed him to forge connections with admired designers and draw inspiration from a rich tapestry of global aesthetics. While he embraces a diverse range of styles, Cameron has a particular affinity for the deep, atmospheric hues characteristic of Scandinavian design. After spending two enlightening years travelling through Asia and Europe, Cameron returned to Australia revitalized and overflowing with fresh ideas.

The Arbor collection, designed for Natadoro, was born of a curiosity about the relationship between a circle and a square, and what alchemy can happen when they are fused together. The chair is reminiscent of the bean-bag vibe from the 1970s, inviting and irresistible.

His recent partnerships with Danish brands Natadora and Tolv, available in New Zealand from Dawson and Co., have provided the perfect avenue for him to delve into his love for Scandinavian and mid-century modern design, leading to the creation of stunning collections such as the Arbor collection (above) and the Slipper Sofa (below), both of which beautifully reflect his distinctive approach.

Multiple modules offer flexibility in configurations to adapt to a variety of spaces. Also showing the Pivot Coffee Table, and Society Side Table.

Though the allure of new design territories may tempt many, Cameron remains committed to crafting furniture that is elegant, functional, and above all, comfortable. His joy lies in creating pieces that are not only relevant today but will also stand the test of time. This focus on timelessness is evident in his work, where each item narrates a story woven from the experiences and lessons of his upbringing.

A distinct mid-century vibe permeates the design of Troubadour chair designed for Natadora. Woodworking techniques that hark back to an earlier time; a relaxed elegance that pays little heed to the fast-moving world outside.

Cameron’s nomadic lifestyle has undoubtedly shaped his empathetic design philosophy. The melding of his New Zealand heritage with Australian influences has cultivated a style that transcends geographical boundaries, resonating with audiences worldwide. Each creation serves as a testament to his belief that beauty and comfort can coexist in perfect harmony, inviting all who encounter his work to experience the warmth and sophistication that define his designs.
