An Artistic Resurgence
As the world finds its rhythm again, Mokum’s Modern Art collection arrives as a vibrant testament to the power of creativity and expression. This striking range of textiles champions creative confidence, inviting designers and homeowners alike to explore bold patterns, rich textures, and dynamic colours that resonate with contemporary sensibilities.
Inspired by the influential Abstract Expressionist movement, the new Modern Art collection by Mokum reflects the profound impact that art can have on our everyday spaces. Mokum’s Design Director, Stephanie Moffitt, sought inspiration during her recent visit to New York, where she immersed herself in the works displayed at The Metropolitan Museum and the Museum of Modern Art.
It was in these galleries that she found a renewed sense of purpose, driven by the resilience of artists who, after World War II, transformed their experiences into groundbreaking art. Moffitt notes, “Seeing these exhibitions reinforced our desire to design textiles that embrace creativity with positivity and confidence.”
This philosophy has taken shape in the Modern Art collection, which elegantly marries artistic heritage with the demands of contemporary living. The Modern Art collection features a diverse range of textiles, each a unique expression of the creative journey.

From the MODERN ART Collection: Ottoman in PIETRE colour Calico, sofa in MODERNIST colour Blush, curtain in COLOUR FIELD colour Clay
Colour Field (below) stands out with its loose, gestural brushstrokes layered atop a colour-blocked base, celebrating the vibrancy and joy that colour brings. This print serves as a tribute to the bold experimentation of the Abstract Expressionist era, inviting a sense of dynamism into any space.

COLOUR FIELD is an expressive, energic print which explores Abstract Expressionist’s experimental layers of colour and captures some of the influential painting techniques that defined the movement. The eye travels across the drapery, catching areas of interest within each of the three palettes. Shellac (shown) is Mokum’s ode to the colour confidence of the period, and celebrates the radiance and joy that colour brings.
Ronde takes a softer approach, featuring cloudlike shapes that create a dreamy translucence. This print beautifully fades in and out of focus, evoking a serene atmosphere that changes with natural light. Available in captivating hues like Solar and Celestial, Ronde invites calm and warmth, making it a perfect choice for drapery.

Completing the collection is Assemblage, a modern and unconventional take on collage. This textile showcases embroidered abstract shapes and playful fringing, forming a rhythmic stripe that adds a layer of artistic flair to interiors. The interplay of textures and patterns invites creativity, making it a standout choice for those looking to make a bold statement.

Beyond the striking prints, the Modern Art collection is grounded by a selection of soft geometric and tactile woven upholsteries. Fabrics like Quadro Boucle and Pietre offer warmth and texture, enriching the overall aesthetic.
Quadro Boucle, with its sumptuous boucle and heathered yarns, brings life to simple checks, while Pietre’s weighty woollen boucle yarns add depth and comfort to contemporary furniture.
